7. Understanding Modbus Data

7.1 Raw Values vs Engineering Values

Modbus registers store 16-bit integers. Physical measurements are represented by scaling: Engineering Value = (Raw Register Value ÷ Scale Factor) + Offset

7.2 Modbus TCP vs RTU

Modbus TCP uses standard Ethernet networking (default: 192.168.1.100:1520). Modbus RTU uses serial RS-232/RS-485 communication.
